Adbusters & Genre
Exam Question:

"Genre Conventions in magazines are completely informed by the social and historical context to which they are made" -Micheal

Evaluate this statement with reference to Adbusters, make reference to Genre Hybridity

Plan:
  • talk about genre, use words like subvert and conform
  • magazines ideology (ideals of producer/message)
  • when the magazine was made (historical context)
  • how society has changed and been reflected (social context)
  • agree or disagree with statement

CONTEXT- background, explain product
DEFENITION- genre, hybridity ect
ARGUMENT- for or against or two ways

POINTS- eg. 'social context is vital in informing the genre conventions in magazines'
'the ideology with the producer is essential in the product and is reflected...'

1) read question and underline key terms

2) first reaction, own opinion/ argument

3) plan on answer paper (between 3-6 paragraphs)

4) introduction- Context, Definition, Argument

5) paragraphs- Point, Evidence/Example, Argument/Theories

6) conclusion- sum up all points
